Pandemic Prevention in ECOWAS

We are pleased to be working again with GIZ on the ECOWAS Regional Pandemic Prevention Program. On 06 and 07 December 2022, a kick-off and planning workshop took place in Accra for a project focusing on capacity building for pandemic prevention and One Health. Together with the public health experts from the Regional Centre for Disease Surveillance and Control (RCDSC), the University of Ghana (UoG) and the Institut Regional de Sante Public from Benin (IRSP), the topics and contents of respective future regional training offers were discussed. In 2023 and 2024 and beyond, professionals from all 16 ECOWAS countries are expected to participate in the regional training opportunities in order to strengthen the regional response to pandemics in the long term.
