Health Focus facilitates Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Programme in The Gambia

One Health has emerged as a focal theme of our global activities. The battle against #AntimicrobialResistance plays a major role in this context. Over a 3-day period, from 30^th August to 1^st September 2023, Health Focus Technical Advisor Abraham Alabi, conducted a training workshop on #AntimicrobialStewardship (#AMS) in Banjul, #The Gambia. The training was for members of the AMS Steering Committee of the #EdwardFrancisSmallTeaching Hospital in Banjul. The EFSTH is the main referral centre in the Gambia; and to the best of our knowledge, this is the first formal AMS implementation programme at the hospital as well as in the country. The project is made possible through a competitive grant from Pfizer awarded to a group of Gambian health professionals. The training workshop was attended by 15 members of the EFSTH AMS Steering Committee.
